In spirit golden

Today was funny. It started out with a downpour of rain and then got sunny. (No, I did not mean for that to rhyme).

When I got to work the lights were out in the office of the school. Everything was dark and none of my colleagues were there. Great, I thought - this is gonna be another one of THOSE days. I soon found out everyone in the office was out sick or away at meetings. Great, I thought again. So there I sat all alone. I groaned and I grimaced. Boohoo, poor me. The phones rang off the hook. The number of students that usually filter through the office doubled from any normal day. Paperwork piled up, while I picked up the slack for those who were out sick, and the thought of getting any of my own work done fell by the wayside. I felt as if I worked a whole week in one day.

When I called one of the other offices in our building to see how the other administrative assistant was doing, she was having one of those days too. We both just laughed. I then realized this changed everything about how I felt. It felt good to laugh off the frustration and insanity and realize it was just one of those days and it will soon be over. I smiled and laughed and realized things weren't really that bad after all. Then it occurred to me:

"The most wasted of days is one without laughter" - E.E. Cummings

Two wheels and summers past

Good Monday lovelies!
I just wanted to say a quick hello. It seems like forever since my last post and I don't like that so much. I haven't had much time for anything lately, let alone blogging. Unfortunately last week found me worn to the core from lack of sleep, piles of work, and a wicked cold. Ugh, I know - sounds depressing but this is a new week and an upcoming vacation is peaking it's head on the horizon for me. Yay! Anyways, since I haven't had much time for outfit shoots I leave you with a single photo on this rainy Monday.

As we recently said adieu to summer, this pic of my gorgeous little sister on her new bike reminds me of one of the simple pleasures I enjoyed as a kid in summers past. It makes me smile on this rainy fall Monday (it also makes me want to break out my sad old Huffy). So with that being said, I will be back tomorrow with a new post. Night night and sweet dreams.

Love, Marisa

And we stare at the sun

I am so happy that Thursday is here. I am more than ready for the weekend to arrive. For some reason this whole week has dragged, sleep has been minimal. and work has been crazy so like many of you, I greet the weekend with open arms.

This is gonna be kind of a quick outfit post since my time is limited and laundry and other housework is calling me. My mom recently had her closet redone (california closet style) and I was the lucky receiver of some items she wanted to get rid of. One of those items being this skirt, which I wore as a dress. I remember when my mom wore it - I always thought the deep jewel colors in it were beautiful. I loved it then and I love it even more now.

On an island by the city

Happy Monday lovelies. I don't have much to chat about today as I am somewhat sleep deprived. It's been one of those clumsy days where I drop everything I pick up and misplace everything to only later find it right in my pocket or beneath my nose. Ever have a day like that?

Speaking of misplacing things - I have misplaced my camera, so tonight photos were snapped compliments of my hubby's Palm Pre.

I couldn't have been happier to greet 4:00 today as that is the time I get off work. I was ever so happy so spend the evening strolling City Island - a tiny little island in the middle of the Susquehanna River outside of Harrisburg. It's a charming little place with a lovely walking bridge to the city, lots of boats, a small ball park, and a ferry. I want to soak in every last day like this before the days get short and the weather gets cold. So all in all, despite my clumsy hands and absent mind, it was a perfect Monday.

Come join me on this tagging game

In this fun little tagging game, I was tagged today by the gorgeous Jasmine of Tragic Fairytales. Thank you dear:) Come join me in this fun.

The rules go like this:
Post the person who gave you this award
State 10 things you like
Pass this to 10 other bloggers you like

How easy is that?

Here I go...

10 Things I Heart (in no particular order):

1. Music. It is one of my biggest passions in life. I've played piano since I was 6 and I've been writing it since I was 15. I drove to Kansas and back from PA in a day and a half just to get my hands on a CP70B piano. I can play some bass, a tiny bit of guitar, and my husband plays drums. Yes, we are a musical family. I don't go a day without it. I eat, sleep, and dream it. I am lost in it constantly.

2. My family of course. I have been blessed with a beautiful little boy , a lovely husband, wonderful parents, and a gorgeous little sis. I am so thankful for all of them.

3. Coffee and tea. If I'm not careful, I could drink it all day long. Sbux anyone?

4. Children's books - Dr. Seuss and Chris Van Allsburg are amongst my favs. What can I say, I am a kid at heart.

5. Cupcakes. What's not to love about them?

6. Art, all kinds. My sister is my favorite artist:)

7. Owls. They are just so darn cute.

8. Dresses, dresses and more dresses and headbands and hats.

9. Old Movies. It's a Wonderful Life, The Sound of Music, and Breakfast at Tiffany's are my top 3.

On a day like today

Could this day get any more beautiful? I wish I could bottle up this comfy sunshine weather and keep it for any day I please, whenever I want. On days like this, Al and I love going to parks after we get off work to kind of unwind. Our town and surrounding area is abundant with them. Yes, we frequent parks a lot. It's fun walking and talking and taking in nature...it's also inexpensive:) This one felt like it was our own. I quite liked that feeling.

Lying Under Blue Bird Skies, Staring Into Ocean Eyes

Well well it's Monday and it has been quite a splendid Labor Day I must say. Hooray for long weekends and Mondays off. In the past, I can't remember a Labor Day that I didn't spend with my family, doing the traditional barbeque, picnic thing. This one was different. Because my parents were away on a mini holiday, we didn't really have any family around to celebrate with, so Al, Keane and I took off for the day with no certain plans and just spent some good old fashion time with one another driving to wherever we felt lead to. Even though it was nothing fancy, it was perfect...it was what we needed. In our humble little expedition, we stopped by a lovely park that overlooks the Susquehanna river and capitol city of Harrisburg. The sky was the perfect shade of blue, the air was sweet and breezy, and the sounds of Native American music from a nearby festival played in the background. It's nice sometimes to not have to go overboard with celebration, but to just enjoy the simple pleasures of life that we have been blessed with. I wish more days were like this.

Doll Face

Ok, so it's no secret that I love dresses. I could wear them all the time. There's just something about putting on a dress and feeling like an oversized doll. Perhaps childish at my age I suppose, but I don't care, it makes me feel happy.
My lovely Al bought me this dress as an anniversary present back in July and I was just so loving the vintage doll like look and feel of it that I decided to do it up with some playful accessories. Yes I love headbands and this one is over-the-top. Al laughed at first when he saw it - in a good way. He just knows it's me. What else would I do, but pair a bright pair of floral tights with the ensemble. I don't care if I look silly, I feel pretty, and I am quite content.

Great is the man who has not lost his childlike heart.
