Se Nourrir D'illusions

Why do two colors, put one next to the other, sing? Can one really explain this? no. Just as one can never learn how to paint.

This past week,  Al and Keane and I managed to squeeze in a nice lil ol visit to Ikea to get some inspiration and ideas for our new house...once we actually move.

Being surrounded by so much color and texture (as well as the two boys I love so dearly) always manages to get me in the brightest of moods.

As for my outfit.  I continue to shop my closet as we save, save, save in the midst of purchasing a home.  Though I really don't like writing about my clothes...funny, since this is a fashion blog, I figured I'd mention the topic of shopping my closet.  A blogger friend recently emailed me in regards to this when I first posted about it here.  She wanted to know how I was doing with purchasing less and remixing more and answer is: unless given as a gift or thrifted...I have purchased nothing new for myself at all except for the dress you saw in my last post which was $34 on eBay.  Not bad, eh?

In light of remixing:

Have you been purchasing more since the season has just changed or do you find yourself trying to work with what you have in order to save?  Inquiring minds want to know:)

Hope you're having a bright and cheery week little darlings.

Love,

Also, thanks so much to the quite lovely Battle Gnomes who awarded me the Versatile Blogger Award. She is a sweetheart that I just became acquainted with in this wonderful little blogging world.  Since I already posted my 7 things...I will direct you back to her pretty blog instead:)

  4. Wow, your first picture is stunning! I love the dress with those red tights! Since living in the DR (almost 2 months) the only purchase I've made for myself was 1 nail polish. All the clothes are 3x more expensive here that i can't really afford anything, but I'm coming to the realization that 2 70 lb suitcases really is a lot of clothes! I'm learning to accessorize more to change up my outfits.

  21. Those red tights are amazing!
And that's brilliant that you've stayed strong about not buying anything (almost). I should do that...since I have no money!
Although I only buy things in the sale and second hand so I really don't spend a lot of money on clothes...food on the other hand is where all my money goes. Coffees and cakes... :)

  22. Oh my gosh, that dress with those tights just made my day. You look fantastic. I love the picture of you and the little boy. So cute!!

As far as purchasing goes, I am only allowing myself to shop at thrift stores, and spend a max of $20, so it's really been helping!!

  23. Love the yellow background, it really makes the outfit pop! I have definitely been trying to spend less, sometimes I fail at it but I am getting better each month. Now that the Australian dollar has bombed against the US dollar, it will help me stay away from all the online shops :) xxx

  24. Red and yellow is one of the ultimate, ultimate colour cominations. And your scarf is amaazing!

I haven't bought anything new since fall began (I do have one thing I bought in summer that I'll wear in fall, and since it's my birthday I might go buy something today). Blogging puts you in the way of more temptation I find, but I always try and separate what a really must or reallly want to spend money on (rent, obvs, and then things like going to events/dinners) and what is just pure consumerism--hello clothes!

  28. i do not know how you do it but here it is once again! a feature filled with Marisa-isms making me light up 100watt bright. Ikea has never looked better, who'd a thunk it to use their yellow walls as a backdrop....um, brilliant you is who! with your red tights, fun scarf and Keane's cuteness this should be added to their latest splash page asap.

good for you on sticking to your guns with the thrifty shop your own closet moves. i've only bought 2 small things since the seasons changed otherwise my wallet may have bit off my arm while attempting to reach for more ; )

you inspire me all the time, this is a happy place and i adore you to no end. xoox ♥
