The Velveteen Bunny

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Blazer, Bag & Hat: Thrifted Vintage
Scarf: Etsy
Tights & Shoes: Modcloth

Oh hi there darlings!

Christmas is right around the corner now, and with that comes trimming the tree, baking the cookies, and thinking about holiday dressing.  That's right - I get pretty darn excited every Christmas Eve to dress up - for dinner, for church, you know - the whole shebang.  Anyhow, this year I was over the moon when eShakti.com asked me to pick a piece from their holiday collection to wear and review and well - here I am, happy as an elf.

My eye was immediately drawn to this floral velveteen skater style beaut - um, hello there gorgeous.  It actually reminded me of this vintage piece I had in my possession a while back - which I reluctantly sold.  So how amped was I that a similar piece made it's way into my closet once again.

As always - I am quite fond of eShakti and the quality of their dresses.  This one was no exception.  It's full - lined skirt and decorative gold zipper down the back are details I especially love on this piece.  Though one thing I do have to mention - in the past I always took the customization route when ordering from their site.  They actually encourage you to do this as you plug in all your measurements when checking out.  However, this time around - I ordered a standard medium.  I figured that since I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight, I wouldn't need to customize will all my exact measurements since I tend to wear a medium or size 6 across the board.  Eeh.  As I am small-boned but still very curvy in the bust and hips - I found that this medium (which eShakti actually considers a size 8), was slightly big in my shoulders.  It's not so much of a big deal to me as the dress fit awesome otherwise - but since customizations are offered, I will in the future be taking full advantage of plugging in my exact measurements.  I would definitely recommend doing so if you happen to be short/petite like me.

** Unfortuniately this particular dress is currently sold out on their site...which is no surprise to me!  You can however check out the rest of eShakti.com's holiday collection right here.  There this LBD dress with a deer on the front of it that I am particular smitten with as well (see here).

That's all for now darlings!  As the holidays near, I intend to wear this lovely with sheer tights, pretty heels, and perhaps a floral crown - but for now as I am running out for coffee with the Mr. and kiddos, so I layered it up with a blazer, slouchy hat, and circle scarf because, baby, it's cold outside!

What will you be wearing for the holidays?

Talk soon...Love bunches,

Buttercup

Hello there darlings,

April has proven itself to be one busy little beaver of a month for me.  I came off the weekend of a bridal shower that I helped plan for one of my very good friends and the little British tea party theme that we had really went off like a big hit....not to toot my own horn, but I think I can safely say that my Nutella truffles did too :-).  So much that I was asked to make them again for another one of my friend's baby showers this weekend.  Perhaps I shall make a business of this...The Truffle Queen?  Oh, just kidding.

Anyhow, I recently came home to a package from eShakti and was it ever a ray of sunshine on that rainy day.  This little Adelaide Dress - what can I say about it?  It was the double scalloped collar and buttercup yellow that really drew me in.  (I'm feeling a song coming on...Build Me Up Buttercup, anyone?)  Just like the previous dress I received from them - I was completely pleased with the quality and fit which is saying a lot considering that I am currently 28 weeks pregnant and dresses can really be a hit or miss for me at this stage in the game.  I had the measurements on this little beauty customized for my baby belly, giving me much more room to grow so I can continue to wear it through my pregnancy.  I figured once I'm back to my post baby body, I can just have it sized down because truly this is a dress I will want to wear for seasons to come.

So that is that.  The weather has been slightly warmer and very windy but nonetheless, the little fam and I are taking every opportunity we can to get outside and enjoy the fresh air.  I just can't wait for spring weather to be in full force here on my side of the mountain.

Hope your week is full of sunshine too!

Love Bunches,

Swan on a Misty Beach - An eShakti Review

Several weeks back eShakti contacted me about doing a product review for them and after really taking the time to peruse their website, I will fully admit, I was beyond thrilled.  I'm sure you've heard about this company before, and if you haven't I would highly suggest taking a mosey around their lovely site as well.  To cut to the chase, they offered me a sample of any of their dresses and it didn't take long for me to spot this swan printed/scalloped collar beauty and become giddy with joy at the thought of it becoming part of my wardrobe.  Goodness, I am a sucker for anything with a cute collar and animal themed print.  Actually, their whole pre-spring/resort collection had me so smitten with it's 1950s vintage inspired theme, that I will very likely go back and make a purchase in time for summer.

Coat & Tights: Target
Floral crown: Little Honey Pies (Etsy)
Brooch: Antique Mall
Shoes: Clarks (gift from the Mr.)

As for the website itself, you are able to customize many of their gorgeous pieces to suit your own tastes and body type.  For me this is like an answer to prayer being a five foot two, small-boned but very curvy and bosomy gal - it really makes for a difficult time finding dresses that fit me properly for my small shoulders and short stature, but at the same time aren't too tight in my bust and hips.  Not such the case for eShakti dresses.  Being able to plug my very measurements in, made for the perfect fit all around - better yet, I was able to customize everything from the length to the kind of sleeves, and if I wanted pockets or not.  Pretty sweet, eh?

The quality of the dress itself is awesome.  Really, I couldn't ask for more in an article of clothing - and I will admit, when it comes to quality in dresses, I am really picky.  For the most part, I tend to stay away from stores that offer super inexpensive dresses & clothing.  Not because I don't love what they offer, but because the items never hold up for me for more than a season long and being a stay at home mom on a budget, this will just not do.   I know this piece will last me for miles and is versatile enough to throw a cardigan over and wear with flats for the every day run to the store, or dress up with shimmery tights and heels for a more special occasion.

Other than that, the shipping was speedy fast - and at my door within a week.  Yes, can you tell I am a happy camper? - Well perhaps not in a couple of these photos after I got caught in the rain.  Such a pouty look on my face...hehe.  Nonetheless, in this eShakti swan dress, this gal is happy as can be.

Alright darlings, that's my verdict - I love eShakti!

Have a lovely week!
