Sugar Plum Fairies, Macaroons, and an Alice in Wonderland Giveaway

Twas the night before Christmas (well almost)!!!

Christmas Eve is just about here and I simply can't wait to spend the evening with all my family feasting on our traditional German Christmas Eve dinner.

But until then I am enjoying a box of homemade macaroons and other chocolaty confections so many of my dear colleagues gave me as gifts for Christmas. Yum, yum, yum!

In terms of my outfit, I don't wear skirts much because I find them hard to wear. I am petite with a typical hourglass figure and sometimes I think full skirts emphasize my wider hips. Oh well, probably true, however I couldn't resist this darling little number.

This is another one of my favorite headbands to date. It is perfect for these cold winter months. Janelle Haskin on Etsy makes some of the cutest knit headbands ever.

Tis the Season to be Jolly and Joyous

As I'm looking back this month, I'm seeing what an awful job I did keeping up with blogging. Blame it on the busyness of the holidays I suppose, which I consider a good thing. I am a Christmas fanatic, there's not one holiday I adore more and am beyond excited this year to celebrate Christmas with my son - it will be his first one!! I can tell how much he's gonna love it already as he had a ball of a time coming along to chop down a Christmas tree with my parents.

So as I prepare for the Christmas festivities that lie ahead, I leave you with some photos from a very chilly day last week. I know I've posted this dress a million times before, this is just another way I styled it for this cold and windy day.

I hope to be back once more before Christmas Eve with a giveaway that I am so very excited about. Until then, I wish you a very lovely week!

Love,

Sock monkeys and Me...Oh Gee.

(Part 3 of a 3 part inspiration post)

So I have to say: this post is long overdue. I took a brief hiatus this past week mainly due to a grueling schedule, fowl frigid and windy weather, and a bad case of the sniffles. I can gladly say I am back and doing quite well.

Enough about me... onto what this post is really about: the stunning Megan (aka Gee) of the quite loverly blog Sock Monkey & Gee. I couldn't think of anyone more fitting to round out my blogger inspiration mini series than her. She is truly a gem and reminds of someone straight out of the pages of a classic novel. Her style is everything I love: feminine, vintage, and somewhat whimsical - I swear at times, she could be my long lost relative. She dons some of the most darling dresses, cutest collars, and prettiest blouses I've ever seen - gosh, I wish I could just raid her closet.

My Gee inspired outfit would not be complete without a dress, bow collar, and pair of sweet Mary Janes.

I do apologize that I do not have more photos to share:( My hubby shot these quickly amidst the harsh wind after I got off work as the sun set quite rapidly and my camera's battery died. Clearly not my lucky day.
Thanks anyways darling:)

Off the Beaten Streets where Stripes of Sunshine Lace my Feet

(Part 2 of a 3 part inspiration post)

A silly title I suppose, but I just couldn't help myself as today's post is inspired by my darling blogger friend Chaucee of Street & Stripes.

Not only is Chaucee one sweet and gorgeous gal, she is an incredibly talented photographer, and the brains behind the beautiful knitted creations at Taylor House store on Etsy as well. Her style is effortless as she is queen of layers, stripes, and the prettiest scarves and boots I've ever seen. I love her dressy casual style and am always looking to her for inspiration on how to layer up my more casual pieces (especially in these winter months). Trust me, this girl can layer like none other and come up with the coolest ensembles - I on the other hand usually come out looking like a bag lady. So thank you Chaucee for helping this summer girl get through the winter months:)

For my Chaucee inspired outfit I just had to don one of my biggest boldest scarfs, some layers and boots of course.

I first saw this dress on Chaucee's blog and immediately loved it.

Sometimes you need a little coffee with your cardigan

(Part 1 of a 3 part inspiration post)

If you haven't figured it out yet - today's post has been inspired by a lovely blogger friend of mine: Louise of Coffee & a Cardigan.

Louise has the most gorgeous doll face, lives in a bavarian village, and dons such a fun, playful, and unique style. She is truly enchanting. I am constantly finding inspiration in the way she puts unexpected pieces together and always comes out looking gorgeous. She is queen of cute patterned socks, cardigans, awesome hats, and lots of color. She can pull off a knit beret like none other.

So of course for my outfit today I just had to sport a knit beret, cardigan, and patterned knee highs:
