Boy has it ever been a jammed packed week for me!  The definite highlight was the last minute with  meet-up with my darling and dear blogger friend  Chaucee, of Streets and Stripes.  This wasn't any old meet-up though, as she so sweetly invited me to attend Shecky's Girl's Night Out in Philadelphia with her where she was asked to take photos and blog for this exciting event. (You can read her post  on Shecky's here.)   Pretty darn cool if you ask me.  She also has more photos and details about the amazing venue and vendors on her blog.  Be sure sure to stop by Streets and Stripes to check it out:)

This was one fab night filled with oodles of gorgeous accessories, racks and racks of pretty dresses, make-up, jewelry, and gourmet cupcakes galore.  We took in one beautiful thing after another and by the end of the evening, one of those gourmet cupcakes...pumpkin to be exact, somehow managed to find it's way into the palm of my little hand...imagine that:)  Oh, and was it ever delicious.

Hoping your week is just as sweet darlings!

Before the Leaves Turn

"I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house.
So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air."

One last romp in the woods before the leaves begin to turn.  The weather here has been mild...neither hot nor cold, perfect for wearing tights again but still warm enough, making me so inclined to wear bright summer colors once again.  Being the goofball that I am, I never take getting dressed too seriously and may at times end up with colorful concoctions such as this.  Don't laugh:)  Nothing like frog leg green tights to add a little spring to my step.  Methinks I resemble a traffic light.

Have the happiest Monday darlings!

These photos were from last month when my mom and I spent an afternoon out perusing through a local antique gallery and old fabric store.  Though now that we are entering fall, it seems a little inappropriate to do such a summery post,  however I just couldn't resist as it was indeed such a lovely afternoon spent amongst buried treasures, pretty trinkets, and prized relics.  It was funny, I didn't intend on snapping any photos on this day, but my mom offered and once we got started I kind of got caught up in all the color and texture surrounding me in this magical little place...luckily it was  Sunday afternoon and not many people were around to witness our getting carried away.  The fabric store brought me back to my days as a young girl when my grandmother and mother use to take me to pick out a pattern and fabric for my Easter and Christmas dresses my grandmother used to make for me.  They were beyond gorgeous and I always loved tagging along on the adventure of finding the perfect pattern, paging through the catalogue table and getting lost amongst the racks of fabric...perhaps even hiding under them:)

Now that I have taken my own little trip down memory lane, I do hope you are having one lovely week.
Do you have any memories of special places you used to go when you were young?
Do tell:)

Have a splendid weekend darlings!

Hi Darlings!
So getting back to the swing of things has not happened just quite yet.  This past week, my father-in-law was rushed to the hospital for emergency heart surgery and has been in recovery ever since.  Naturally Albert and I left for Philly to be with his mom to help out in any way that we can  and visit with his father during this time.  Thankfully, he is doing very well and getting stronger each day.

Below are some photos from a little day adventure that Albert and I went on several weeks back.  Since Albert was off this afternoon, we headed over to the capital city of Harrisburg to get a bite to eat, do a little thrifting, and take a mosey around the capitol building as it was quite a sunny and lovely day outside.

I do warn you before I go any further that this is a picture heavy post.  Our capitol building is such a pretty place both inside and out that I had to just give you a little tour around a bit of the outside of this strikingly beautiful structure.

Also...Thanks to Indi for passing on the "Your Amazing"  blogger award to me.  She is an as sweet as pie blogger friend and the most darling ray of sunshine.

I'm passing this one on to my hubster...because he truly has been the most amazing these last couple weeks (as always), showering me with tons of love and support as well as patience and just being a dear friend through my ups and downs.  Sorry for the cheese if you are still reading this.

Before I begin, I just wanted to say how very thankful I am to be part of such a supportive and uplifting blogging community.  As it was quite a tough week to get through with the passing of my grandmother, the condolences many of you sent through comments and emails really shed sunshine upon my dreary days.  I appreciate each and every one of you dear blogger friends so very much, despite the fact that we may live miles apart.  You are simply the sweetest and really know how to make a gal like me feel good.

After taking a short break, it is nice to be back and in the swing of things again.  The photos above are from my recent vacation to Hilton Head Island, SC.  If there is one thing I've realized time and time again vacationing on this tiny little island off the coast, it is that I could most definitely make my home here.  There really is something quaint and enchanting about this lush and tranquil little beach town.  I guess the next best thing would be moving to a lush green valley under an open sky and amongst tall green mountains...which is exactly where I am moving (once I actually get there).  Yes...our closing date has been moved back again due all the flooding PA has received from the recent hurricane.  Keeping my fingers crossed it all happens before Christmas...ha!

Anyhow, all this extra time on my hands has given me plenty of time to start cleaning out my closet, which feels very good.  I haven't been buying anything new either (for months now)...except for the occasional thrift purchase or gift from my hubby:)  Seems that having less stuff is somehow less stressful.  Here's to simplicity.

Well that's all for now folks.  I just thought I'd stop in and say hello and finally get caught up on your loverly blogs as I am way behind...please forgive me.

Until then, have a delightful week!

Forever Love

This past Saturday, I lost someone who meant the world to me.  My grandmother, Nana, as I call her was such a sweet-hearted, kind and loving person.  Words could never describe how amazing of a lady she was.  She was nurturing, caring, feisty, and funny and just an all around lovely person inside and out.  Such a strong rock in our family, I have some of the dearest childhood memories of her...I could write pages and pages about this.  From the many nights I slept over at her house and how she always made me the most delicious banana pancakes in the morning set out with a tall glass of orange juice and vitamins to playing dress up with her pretty dresses and trying on her stunning collection of jewelry to visiting her at work and how she always set up the typewriter for me to type on because she knew it was my favorite thing to do.  She loved old church hymns and she always sang them to me in the most beautiful voice and even taught me how to play some of these songs on the piano.  She was sweet indeed.  She will be missed and it hurts to think about it, but I know she is now in a better place.  I will forever hold dear the many many wonderful memories I have with her.  Love you Nana Banana.

As some of you know from reading along, I lost my other grandmother earlier this year so naturally this is quite a difficult time for me as both these ladies played such a huge role in my life.  Because of this I will be taking a short break from the blog world to clear my head, reflect, and let my heart mend a bit.

Much love to you all.
See you soon darlings!

Love,
